A Colne Valley crosses a Pennines in West Yorkshire. It will require its title from either a River Colne which flows along the floor of the vale through the villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite and Golcar.
the Vale played a important role in the development of the Industrial Revolution. Virtually all of the people experienced been weavers for generations, therefore whenever a lake-powered textile mills were built on the numbers of lakes & little lakes in the metropolitan area, the area was swell placed to be a major producer of textiles. A Flow of any stream Colne & a Huddersfield Narrow Canal provided early transport links which were presently added to by road and railway links to Huddersfield and Leeds to the East and Manchester and Liverpool to the West.
Per prevent of the Second World War, the importance of the Colne Valley as a centre of textile production began to decrease. A vicinity is at present primarily residential, its fantabulous transportation links making it ideal for commuters. Touristry is existence promoted: a Huddersfield Narrow Canal was reopened inside 2001 and boat trips into Standedge Tunnel are available; the National Trust advertise walks on Marsden Moor Estate; and tv show like Last of the Summer Wine and Where the Heart Is (soap opera) have been filmed there.
